  • 6 medium apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp all-purpose flour
  • Crumble Topping:
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour. Spread evenly into the prepared dish.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in cold butter with a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Sprinkle crumble topping evenly over the apple mixture.
  5. Bake for 35–40 minutes, until apples are tender and topping is golden brown.
  6. Cool slightly before serving. Best enjoyed warm.
