Ingredients
 
 

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 2 cups milk or water for lighter version
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 apple peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1/4 cup raisins optional
  • 1 tbsp chopped walnuts optional
  • Extra cinnamon and honey for serving

Method
 

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring milk to a gentle boil over medium heat.
  2. Stir in oats, cinnamon, and salt. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes.
  3. Add diced apple and raisins. Continue cooking 5–7 minutes until oats are creamy and apples are tender.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in honey or maple syrup.
  5. Divide oatmeal into bowls, sprinkle with walnuts, and serve with extra cinnamon and honey if desired.
