Ingredients
- 1 lb flank steak thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3 cups broccoli florets
- 3 garlic cloves minced
- 1- inch piece ginger minced
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water slurry
- 4 cups cooked white rice
- 2 green onions sliced (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds for garnish
Method
- In a bowl, toss sliced beef with 2 tbsp soy sauce, oyster sauce, and 1 tbsp cornstarch. Let marinate for 10 minutes.
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add beef in batches and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add remaining oil. Stir-fry broccoli, garlic, and ginger for 3–4 minutes until broccoli is bright green and slightly tender.
- Pour in beef broth, 2 tbsp soy sauce, and hoisin sauce. Stir and bring to a simmer.
- Return beef to the pan. Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook 1–2 minutes until sauce thickens and coats beef and broccoli.
- Serve hot over bowls of steamed rice, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.

For extra tenderness, freeze beef for 15 minutes before slicing.
